    Sailing/Watersport Summer Camp - w/in 300 miles of Memphis?

    Anyone know of a Summer Camp with an outstanding sailing/watersport theme within, say 4-5 hours of Memphis, TN?

    Our Troop regularly goes to our local Council - which has a good program; however, next year we are looking to visit another camp to provide variety for our Scouts.

    I'd love to suggest to them a Camp with a strong sailing/water sports focus.

    We're looking for something in between another canoe trip and Sea Base!

    Any ideas?

    I don't know the distance, and this summer will be our first visit to this camp, but outside of Roanoke Va. is Blue Ridge Mountain Scout Reservation. It looks, from what we have signed up for, that there is a large watersport offering.

      I can't speak from experience, but here it the link to the Camp Rockefeller, which is the Quapaw Area Council out of Little Rock, AR camp. It is located about 20 miles North of Conway, AR outside of Damascus.

        Camp Mack Morris is about 2.5 hours East of Memphis. It is on Kentucky Lake and has a lot of water craft options.

          The S-F Scout Ranch will offer water sports merit badge, motorboating merit badge, small boat sailing merit badge, along with traditional aquatics merit badges in the summer of 2013. It's about 250 miles away from Memphis just outside of Farmington, MO, and is one of the few camps that still incorporates patrol style cooking.
